Sustainability

At Jovana Djuric, sustainability means more than just materials. It’s a commitment to only making what is needed, limiting production, working with artisans, sourcing metals responsibly and designing with a focused intention to bring pieces of jewelry into the world with a purpose.

All metals are certified by the Responsible Jewelry Council, which provides the guidelines that define the criteria for the ethical, social, human rights, and environmental standards for responsible business practices throughout the jewelry supply chain. All metals used within the collection, including sterling silver and gold are certified as being from 100% Recycled Sources.

All the stones we set are either conflict-free or lab grown. In an effort to reduce our impact on the environment, and to increase the quality of our smaller diamonds, we have recently transitioned them to be lab grown. Lab grown diamonds are identical to earth mined diamonds in every way, except that they are lab grown. They have the same chemical, physical, and optical properties as mined diamonds.

Jewelry is made to order with an intention to make only what’s necessary.

Each one is cast and made by hand by  NYC artisans who are paid NYC labor wages.

Jovana is also mindful in her design process and always asks herself “Does the world really need another earring?  And what is really my point?” This helps her to streamline the designs  and keep herself in check at the very beginning of the process.
